OUIDAD SALON
The tony Montana Avenue, a glam-chic zone of upscale boutiques and haute restaurants in Santa Monica, CA, is home to Ouidad's new eponymous salon on the West Coast. "The outpost will cater to clients who seek the finest cuts, products and know-how for their curly hair," says Ouidad, who is oftentimes affectionately referred to as the "Queen of Curl."

Mirroring Ouidad's 57th Street location in New York City, the new salon's decor boasts beautiful, rich brown bamboo flooring; contemporary accents; sleek, modern lighting; and comfortable earth-toned seating, including four styling chairs. Treatments, hours and services are the same as those offered at the Manhattan salon, and the Santa Monica team of four stylists/colorists has been trained to perform Ouidad's signature Carving and Slicing cutting method, as well as the Rake and Shake styling technique. "We're all about sharing techniques with clients that will enable them to embrace and adore their curls," says Ouidad, whose West Coast clients used to have to fly across the country just for an appointment with her. "Naturally, I'm thrilled to open this salon and to call Santa Monica home once a month—not just to see my existing customers, but to touch many more curls that haven't yet been treated to the Ouidad signature salon experience." —K.D.
