In 2021, while online searches for categories such as hair tools, accessories and extensions were on the decline, one particular category increased: split end menders. It's certainly not a replacement for a haircut—nothing really is—but offering a few simple products or treatments to your client and discussing how to prevent split ends might be the best way to remind them that they need you.

In the skincare category, two topics were on the rise: tanning products (hello, winter blues) and anti-aging supplements. When it comes to makeup, consumers are looking into contouring, specifically contour sticks.
